We invite you to join us for the ‘The Shoalhaven Shark Tank’, held in Homelessness Person’s Week on August 2nd at the Nowra School of arts at 12.30pm.
The Shoalhaven Shark Tank was held last year and was a huge success for our region, with homelessness services benefiting from the generosity of the business community to provide goods, services and support for homeless people and those at risk of homelessness.
The concept, based on Channel 10’s, The Shark Tank, runs in the same way; services pitch their ideas to the local businesses who could buy into them if interested. There are different price categories and making a donation can start at $50, so all sized businesses can take part and stay within their budgets.
Businesses have approached us, wanting to support local services, but didn’t know how to direct their support… quite often they were sponsoring overseas charities because that was simpler.
We would like to thank our kind & generous sponsors and suppliers from the Shark Tank 2015, already 15 businesses from last year have signed up to take part.
The event raised over $40,000 in cash donations AND all monies raised went straight back into the Shoalhaven community, plus $$$$ in in kind donations.
So, The Shoalhaven Shark Tank is returning for 2016, with lead agencies, Southern Cross Community Housing and SAHSSI organising, we are hoping to double the attendance this year. The Mayor has offered to pay for the venue from her personal funds.
