Congratulations to Hotondo South Coast, winner of the Excellence in Social Responsibility award.
Sponsored by Shoalhaven City Council, this award recognises individuals, businesses or organisations that demonstrate a commitment to going beyond their core business activities to create a better place for others either through benevolent activities or involvement in bettering the wider community.
The judges said the following about Hotondo South Coast:
In judging this category, the sheer depth of civic duty and community involvement of the Shoalhaven business sector became readily apparent. This made for a large and exceptional pool of finalists. Hotondo South Coast demonstrated a business philosophy of ‘presence in the community ahead of dollars in the door’. The company has well-established ethical workplace structures, including induction of the company’s staff and contractors in the identification and protection of endangered species on building sites. Significantly, Hotondo is involved in the mentoring of apprentices of the business and contractors as well as other local youth. Combined with its ongoing contributions to many individuals and groups in the Shoalhaven, a commitment to environmental and eco friendly practices.
