AUTUMN CELEBRATION OF FOOD

WELCOME TO AUTUMN!
There’s something about autumn in the Shoalhaven that just feels different.
The mornings turn crisp and mist rolls softly across the paddocks. The river sits still and glassy. Huskisson and Greenwell Point slow down just enough to breathe. The ocean is calmer, the light is golden, and the air carries that subtle shift — woodsmoke, salt and rich soil.
Autumn here isn’t just a change in temperature. It’s a change in mood.
Our local produce begins to reflect the season. Apples and pears are at their peak. Pumpkins, sweet potatoes and earthy mushrooms take centre stage. Broccoli, silverbeet and cauliflower thrive in the cooler air. Late figs and grapes linger, citrus starts to brighten the stalls, and hearty greens return to our plates.
Out on the water, seafood remains a hero — oysters tasting of the clean Shoalhaven tides, fresh snapper and prawns pairing perfectly with those richer autumn flavours.
It’s the season of slow-cooked meals, shared tables, local reds, long lunches and coastal sunsets that arrive just a little earlier.
This is the time to embrace what grows here. To support the farmers, fishers, providores, chefs and producers who shape our region year-round.
And in 2026, we celebrate it all.
