The Company Director of Macey Insurance Brokers may be our President, but Macey’s support of the Awards extends well into the past and beyond Brendan’s appointment to the role of President. Maceys is well known for its visual branding and the Macey umbrella, making you feel protected and safe.

And in talking with Macey’s Account Broker, Adam Blandin de Chalain, we can see the branding well and truly extends to inside the business as well, with Adam sharing that the Maceys culture is one of a supportive extended family.

What do you love about working for Maceys?

Being part of a team who are here because they genuinely want to be here, every day, and who aren’t just here for the paycheque. Maceys truly fosters a family environment where every team member is valued and their contributions are acknowledged.

Describe Maceys in three words

Professional.  Supportive.  Family.

What is life like at Maceys?

As an Account Broker I manage my own portfolio of clients.  I have built a solid rapport and strong relationships with my clients and I love the variety and freedom of being out on the road as well as in the office.

Can you tell us about a memorable customer interaction, or a customer who you particularly enjoy working with?

One that comes to mind is managing a difficult claim for a client.  They were New Zealand expats living in Dubai and the claim was for damage to their property in Queensland. The client is an international pilot so had very little spare time. Being able to manage the claim from beginning to end on their behalf and to hear how genuinely appreciative they were of my efforts was extremely rewarding.

Our Awards theme this year is ‘Cultivate’, which is all about nurturing growth. How does Maceys foster the growth of its employees?

Maceys are all about nurturing and encouraging growth of the team.  This support ranges from encouraging us to undertake studies to further/attain qualifications, attend conferences and business networking events.  Paul sits down with each team member yearly to discuss individual training reviews where we are asked of training that we would like rather than being told what training we are doing.

What do you love about attending the Business Awards?

It celebrates and promotes the professional achievement of the many strong businesses we have in our region.

Maceys has a long history of supporting the Awards, why do you think it’s important for successful businesses to show their support of the Awards?

I believe that having reputable and successful businesses like Maceys support the Awards reflects the genuine support and encouragement among the business community.

Tell us, what are Brendan and Paul like as a boss??

Brendan and Paul are leaders – not bosses.  They lead from the front and it gives a sense of pride to be a part of what Maceys are doing. They are extremely passionate about the core role of Maceys which is to provide the right insurance protection for all our customers, which in turn, allows their businesses to grow.

Thanks Adam for taking time out to tell us what it’s like for one of our region’s much-loved family businesses.

And thank you to Macey Insurance Brokers for sponsoring the Awards.
